Lancashire Advanced Motorists currently operates from Buckshaw Village, Chorley. During Q1 2026 we hope to begin running courses from a new, second location at Broughton (off M6 / M55 junction), although this may initially be subject to demand and observer availability.
Beyond this, we plan to introduce further centres in the future, so that we can better serve a more extensive area of Lancashire, and specifically the FY and PR postcodes.
Our centres provide a base for our driving courses in accordance with IAM Roadsmart’s requirements, whilst all of our observers are trained and qualified to a nationally recognised standard (Institute of Motor Industries, IMI).
For more detailed information about how and where our courses run, please see their dedicated sites (using the menu bar above).

What is Advanced Driving?
- It’s the method taught and used by the Police and other emergency services since the 1950’s
- Uses the SYSTEM OF CAR CONTROL – a methodical approach to dealing with hazards which increases your safety by giving you more time to react in complex situations
- An Advanced Driver is SAFE, LEGAL, SYSTEMATIC, SMOOTH and PROGRESSIVE
- Advanced Driving isn’t about driving at 40 in a 60mph limit or how you hold the steering wheel!
